Abortion is Immature :: abortion argumentative persuasive argument

Abortion is Immature         What would it be like to die so young and so fragile?  What would it be like to eliminate something so young and so fragile?  Abortion, in my definition, is the taking of a life.  Now it is hard for me to sit here and type this paper when I live good and well that if my daughter or wife were ever raped I would want whatever was inside of them out -- immediately.  I think that to shoot down the life of an unborn just because the couple involved were too lazy to use contraceptives, is immature and quite horrid.  In this informative paper, you as a contributor will come to actualize the facts on miscarriage and then understand where I stand.         Let us begin.  According to US Abortion data provided in 1995 by Planned Parenthood, there were 1.8 million first trimester abortions, 180 thousand second trimester abortions, and about four thousand required Hysterotomies.&n bsp Now according to these figures we, as the United States, killed/aborted 1,984,000 fetus.  Sure we could keep down the increase in our population at this rate, but where would we be emotionally?  Speaking from a my point of view, I wouldnt get to far.  I enjoy children profusely and thinking that there are 1.9 million children less in the world every year sends shivers down my spine.  further I guess you may say that it is not my place to speak.         There are fewer deaths per million abortions than per million births according to the Planned Parenthood raft of 1995.  There are nine deaths per million abortion procedures and sixty-three deaths per million births.  Both complications and the death rate rise with the age of the fetus.  I can understand that these facts portray a much better picture for abortion than carrying to term, but what about the inconvenience that the fetus will feel?   According to pro-choice physicians they see that a certain connection, synaptic, necessary to perceive pain, for the fetus, is not formed until the twenty-eighth week of pregnancy.  Others who are pro-life believe that the fetus can feel pain as early as the seventh week.  But even though these facts by Planned Parenthood show a better side to abortion as well, nothing can compare to the guilt of the

The History of the American Bottom :: American History

Two of the nations largest rivers meet in the American Bottom. The Mississippi and Missouri Rivers served as channels of change to the battleground, bringing outside influences of umteen different peoples to an Indian-inhabited land. Like the constant flow of the rivers, there was a constant change in the American Bottom. The progress eventually developed the area into a center of sparing activity and gateway to the west, but as well as excluded native and long-time residents. The Illinois Indians long dominated the American Bottom. They were a unique and special tribe, who were complex politically, religiously, and socially. They were also an independent people until French colonizers came to settle in the area. The French Creoles became the dominant population in the theatrical role, effecting trade and implementing French Creole finale in the region. The French would not be the last group trying to develop and profit from the American Bottom. When the United States gained co ntrol of the territory, it changed even further and eventually Americanized into an U.S. State. The importance of the region increased as the U.S. continued to grow westward. The American Bottoms location between the two great rivers made it the ideal location for a center of economic growth.Prior to the contact period, or the time when the Illinois first came into contact with Europeans, the Illinois were a great and influential tribe. They were a very interesting tribe who had a culture all their own. They were also a very autonomous bunch never having to rely on anyone but themselves for survival. This was all to change with the introduction of European missionaries and traders. The Illinois were place in territory that was in heavy demand by those who wished to exploit these Indians and their land in order to turn over a dollar. The frontier was woful farther west and the Illinois eventually fell into the chaos that followed. War, disease, alcohol, and new ways of life eventua lly exterminated the Illinois. Although the Illinois were not to make it through the development of the American Bottom, they played a crucial and fascinating role in its history. The land the Illinois lived was not only beautiful but also abundant with resources. The resources in the area amazed the French missionaries and explorers. Father Claude Allois, a Jesuit missionary, describes an interesting spectacle on a journey south. The next day, we saw a rock seven or eight feet out of the water and two or three brasses in circumference, named the pitch rock.

Gay Parenting Essay -- Expository Adoption Gay Adopting Essays

brisk P arnting Steve Lofton and his partner, Roger Croteau live in fear each day of having their foster-son, Bert, taken away(p) from them and placed with a nonher family. Steve and Roger can not adopt Bert, who is 10 years old, because a Florida law banning gays from adopting prohibits it. Bert, along with four other children, has been in the care of Steve and Roger since he was an infant. If he is taken away from them, he will lose the only family he has ever known. Since June 1977, Florida has denied gays and lesbians from adopting children on the basis of morality and the supposed danger to the children (Suit). At that time on that point was press that gays were molesting and corrupting children. People today continue to believe this is true. Many other states ban gay adoptions on similar grounds. Some states, like Florida and Mississippi, substantiate made this a formal law. Many people, especially family-values advocates, have negative and hostile views toward gays a nd lesbians. We can see that homophobia is all around us (Benkov 187). It is so pervasive that it is even institutionalized and made into laws. Although the gay movement has made some strides in making homosexuality more accepted in this country, there are still laws in the books that promote heterosexism, intolerance and discrimination. Laws that deny gays and lesbians the right to adopt children are unfair because they discriminate against homosexuals and deprive many children of suitable parents and potentially durable homes.Steve Lofton and his partner can not adopt their foster children because although they see themselves as a family, they are not considered one by the State of Florida. StagesRichard Wrights Native Son provides us with an exemplary example of the way the black race was conditi whizd in the 1930s. He does this by verbalize us about an adult black male named Bigger Thomas. Wright titles each book in the novel the way he does to give insight into the assorted actions and feelings of Bigger.Book one is entitled Fear. It provides us with an explanation of why Bigger is mysophobic to do many things that he has a chance to do. Wright explains that Bigger is afraid because he is conditioned by white society to act this way. In Fear, Wright shows us that in actuality, Bigger is afraid to rob Blums store. Bigger tries to mask his devotion by implying that Gus is the one who is shake. They are shooting a game of pool when he asks Gus if he still wants to do the job. When Gus says no Bigger replies, How come? You panicked cause hes a white man? When Gus retaliates, Bigger tries to accuse Jack and G.H. He makes the statement, Cause hes white, eve rybodys scared. Wright emphasizes biggers revere again when he arrives at the Daltons. Bigger is scared because he thinks that someone will believe that he is trying to rob or rape somebody. Bigger feels that he should have stayed among his own people in order to escape the feeling of fear that he has in his look. Once again Wright emphasizes the title. Like Fear, Flight also has a specific meaning. Flight begins with Bigger at his home asleep. He l eaps from bed with thoughts of how he killed Mary Dalton flooding his mind. He begins to think that he can do what he wants and not get caught. After killing Mary, bigger begins to thirst for more. When he returns to the Daltons he wonders if he will have to kill Peggy. After a long heart felt talk with Max, Bigger realizes that he really wants to live, not die. He sobs, I dont want to die, I dont want to die. The trial is right off over and his luck has been determined. In Number 666-983, indictment for murder, the sentence, of the Court is that you, bigger Thomas, shall die on or before midnight of Friday, March third, in a room prescribed by the laws of this state. Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. Essay

The problem associated with this case is whether or not the caller-up should introduce a peeled energy beverage nock into the market. If a profitable market opportunity exists for the company to enter the energy beverage market the next step would be to identify a engineer market and marketing mix along with a product line and brand positioning. The best opportunity for the company to gain market share is to prey adult energy drinkers from ages 35 to 54 since none of the competitors are catering towards this segment. Bottlers, distributors, and retailers are unlikely to produce and stock more than two SKUs of a stark naked energy drink brand so it would be best to introduce a regular 16ounce single-serve package that consists of two different flavors. Since regular energy beverages channel 80% share of the market selecting regular is best, and since the 16ounce energy drinks represent 50% of case sales in convenience stores and want a high dollar volume to maintain prevalence in convenience stores its best to go with a 16ounce size. Also having two different flavors to choose from will help increase gamble of trial rather than have only one flavor and have regular and sugar free or have one flavor and two different sizes. In positioning the brand the company should differentiate the energy drink from competitors by basis of packaging and select the 16.9ounce single-serve aluminum bottle with a resealable screw cap, and also by ingredients in having lower carbohydrates in the formulation. The energy brand should be distributed to all types of off-premise retailers where beverages are sold for maximum sales. The companys U.S. media expenditure should be $12.6 million, oppose to that of Tag Energys U.S. media expenditure which lead to a 2.3% dollar market share, because Tag Energy was also new to the energy beverage market and targeted to a certain demographic the company should experience a similar result. The manufacturers suggested retail selling legal injury should be $2.29. Higher than the average $2.00 per single-serve because of its uniquepoint of difference lower carbohydrates and aluminum bottle with resealable screw cap. Market sales potential for the companys target market is equal to $1.608 (Exhibit 1) billion and market sales forecast is equal to $133.202 million (Exhibit 2). With a retail trade margin equal to 40% the companys selling price to retailers would be $.961 (Exhibit 3). Thus from the market sales forecast of $133.202 million the company would receive $79.921 million in revenue, and with the companys contribution margin of 30% total profit would be equal to $22.378 million (Exhibit 4).

MS A.S.Thafeni Essay

1. How did I contain myself with the base?Deciding which group or organization to engage with was non easy for me. I had to play around with many ideas and think which wiz because we find plenty of them around here. In my community we have Trauma C arrive, FAMSA we also have lay counselors who ar making a difference in more informal way. However deciding how to approach one of them wasnt easy at all. I felt anxious each time I had to move in a choice. I reflected to one of my experiences I encountered dogged time ago when I relocated to an early(a) country (Angola) for trey years. When I had to meet different passel, different culture, language and so forth. It was totally new environment for me and I had to adjust very fast. The first step I took was to make an appointment with one nurse in charge in our local clinic to authorize me to do my observation in the clinic with the help of my nephew who was employed at the clinic. She agreed. I also went to FAMSA and try to n egotiate my entry in that respect as person who needs help, unfortunately, they were not in that day. Then I decided to engage with the group located in my clinic where I got permission. . I learned lay counselors are in attempt to bring change in our community. Targeted members are those patients who project or come to clinic on a daily basis for various reasons. The group meets during the week (Monday to Friday) at 8am 10pm. The establishment of the group was two years ago because the concern some few community members had. It seems it has been started by local community members who were concerned just somewhat certain issues that affect people. They felt that buy working together as community would bring a difference and enhance life of other people. They also thought that this group provide bring some changes in their homes and to community as a whole. This aware(predicate)ness computer program is not static, new members are introduced daily, weekly and monthly as the g roup is informal. The program compels no one to stay, people do have right to choice and freedom and its being respected by everyone. The goal of this program is to make the people aware of some disease and illness that affect us and consciously and unconsciously. I understand since this program started two years ago, it has been successful. People show interestsand others report that there has been a radical change in their lives as now they agnize the importance of taking their treatment especially on time, comp permiting the treatment, eating healthy, exercising, juvenile pregnancy decreased as youth now know how to protect themselves against the diseases, abortions decreased and so forth. This kind of reports is what kept the program alive.I also understand this program reached so many people every month as they count approximately 300 to 400 monthly. Again they hope that in the long run the community will be better, HIV/AIDS, TB, Teenage pregnancy will be decreased by 50%. Wh at made them certain is that in 2012 when this program commenced within six to seven months, TB and HIV/AIDS was combated seriously and clinic reported that 2% less/ reduced. I also learned that people takes to be taught with the language they understand so that they weed participate fully about the affaires affect their lives on the daily basis.I came to know the group because I am also a community member who also uses the facilities available to my community such as the clinic. Most of the time when I visited my clinic I employ to see people entering certain door and I asked a friend who was sitting next to me and also as I have mentioned to a higher place I have a nephew who is employed there about the group and she explained to me. Initially, I never give myself time to join or to be concerned in whatever they are doing but studying this module made me to be interested in the group. My nephew who works at the clinic helped me to enter the space by introducing me to the nurs e in charge. I made appointment with appointment with the nurse. I had to make an appointment because for me it indicated respect as I wouldnt just enter as I please in the group without permission. I had five minutes with the nurse and explain who I am? What do I want to do? Why, How? When? And after that she gave me permission. What is important Iindicated that whatever I am going to observe here is strictly confidential its only for my denomination purpose. The nurse introduced me to the facilitator who was facilitating the group and I was highly accepted as part of the family but as an observer. The main area of focus is to teach ormake the community members aware about various issues that affect them on the daily basis. Issues such as Teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, TB, STIs, etc. They also focused on teaching morality because they believe good morality will result in reduced mortality.2. I had few assumptions before engaging in the context. impudence 1- The Environment= the envir onment should be conducive so that members should be comfortable. premiss 2-The group share common interest.Assumption 3- They group should share common problem.Assumption 4- They must have open communication.Assumption 5 They should have solution to their problem.Assumption 6 Decisions are made collectively. All these assumptions are only base on my observations that are not confirmed. I was also aware that even though they form a group but they are inactive ridiculous individuals with their unique experiences (proposition 1 & 2). These unique experiences will bring change to their lives. I also believed that as a group they have collective knowledge, skills and potential. The only thing that is required is the facilitator to release that potential resource.Aspects pertaining to the brotherly context as well as social issues that the group is grappling with or the challenges the group is facing are denial and distortions about the disease such as HIV/AIDS. Some member of the group came with the interesting aspect that HIV/Aids caused by topnotch natural causes. It is caused by people casting a spell over you (bewitched) (boloi- South Sotho). Some will say the disease can be cured, they know the conventional healers who cured somebody. Some will say its indicationof ancestors calling. Some claims that they dont have food in order for them to take treatment. Because of these challenges the program had to be adjusted a little bit to accommodate these challenges. The members will somewhere somehow include God and super naturals in their discussions, for an example, a cleaning woman was taught about the HIV/AIDS illness, how we contact it and so forth, and she also made her inputs that in the Bible all these illnesses where predicted, therefore its not a miracle. During my observation I realized that people are struggling to relate with theenvironment also with one another. For an example, during the academic session the group members were afraid to tal k their hearts out. I can assume that members know each other perhaps as a neighbor, friend. Therefore, their friendship or neighbor relationship deprived them freely participation in the group as one will think that what others will do or say or one doesnt want others to know about his /her business or issues the one struggling with. According to part two of the study Guide The cracked landscape Society in crisis. I have realized that people are not aware that they are not alone, they are not individuals. They failed to cherish the idea of motho ke motho ka batho ba bang Humanity. They still isolate themselves, still have negative thinking that no one can help them and yet they dont realize that this behavior is supernormal as it makes us to live like animals where we should be on a look out everyday who says what, to whom? In what manner? This behavior also creates tension between the people, create hunger, poverty, violence, discrimination (Study Guide for PYC370524). Our s ociety is broken into smaller pieces. However, As I was observing this group I realized positive things about the members. Even though disclosing in public is not their way of life but they do need help. I dictum this after the first session ended. Some of them wanted private dialogue with the facilitator. Others shared their experiences with others in private. That private conversation gave them hope and less despair and that allowed development among the group itself. The second session the following day I saw different group thanyesterday in terms of enthusiasm, energy. The dialogue was just open and free and that also helped other to open up. I heared other member of the group says Ka ikutlwa ke fodile She now feels better or healed. That where I learned that talking or opening up indeed heals and assist the government cost on medicine.I think the are some similarities and differences I have observed with regard to what constitute a counseling setting. Why I am saying this is because firstly, as I have mentioned above about the well reception I received from the group and the counselors. This indicated positive regard for othersUnconditional positive regard is one of the climate that the counselor should create so that people should feel accepted, and that how I felt. As I observed the counselor/ facilitators. According to study withdraw for PYC370540, explains that unconditional positive regard is being present is the basis from which people can explore thoughts, feelings and experiences. This is what I saw from the lay counselor. That is reason why members of the group were able to express their feelings about the HIV/AIDS issues. Even though members introduced their knowledge about traditional healers who can treat various illnesses, she was non judgmental, she showed warmth through body language used posture, maintained eye contact and that indicated one of the values that she should have Respect. Secondly, she created the safety environment (p roposition 17).She allowed the group members to be themselves. She let them to deal with the issues they felt strong about e.g. (What do you guys want us to talk about today?). She let them to self determine (proposition 4). She never judged them. She respected every ones ideas. She listens to each and every one of them. She was attending every member of the group. The lay counselors even though they conduct counseling informally as they have no formal training in psychology , like Mrs. Bengu in the study guide for PYC3705 they provide emotional support in the community in collaboration with others. What I also observed in this group is Confidentiality. We know that this is a dilemma. superstar member in the group requested that what they discussed in there it should end there. She herself she doesnt want to hear her problems outside that group. If her request is not respected, then she will be very disappointed. All members including the facilitator agreed on that and made promise to one another that they will be confidential. This indicated the unity of the group (proposition 3). The differences I saw was lay counselor couldnt recognize the discrepancies between what the member was saying and how was said or behaved. She was just accepting what ever the member said. Two, non-verbal communication, what the member was communication through her body language e.g. member is communicating something but she puts hands on her mouth. She doesnt use minimal encouragers, open question paraphrasing and so forth. The wish of attentiveness skill. According to (Grobler andSchenck 200946), attentiveness is the way in which the facilitator orientates him or herself physically and psychologically towards the clients. However, the counselor will answer her phone during the session with the client without apologies. This is the secernate that I have conducted a proper research. As I have mentioned earlier the group is located in my local clinic and is informal, is not regist ered, the counselors are not qualified or trained. Therefore, they make use of the pamphlets available in the clinic such as Drug-resistant, TB and HIV and TB in the Workplace.REFERENCESGrobler, H. &Schenck, R. 2009. What vices we should avoid or elude

What vices we should avoid/elude What are the vices we should avoid or elude? First of all there are many types of vices, from alcohol, smoking, drugs, gambling, and even lust. To be bonnie I like to beverage, occasionally but if you drink too much, well now thats Just wrong. Drinking too much of alcohol will pincer your liver and certain types of alcohol that has mead in it would eat up brain cells and would nearly likely make you stupid. There are many different types of drugs like marijuana, meet, cocaine, ecstasy, weed, ephemeral high. What do all these drugs have in common? Makes you high, makes you numb and makes you elated. But what are the bad side effects? Drugs can fry or bankrupt every organ you have, even your brain which would make you an utter insane lout. Smoking, what does it do?Well nicotine that is found in tobacco leaves, which is inside a faggot eats up your stored vitamins inside your body, once that happens oh would be prone to sickness or get sick allot, other than that there is a high materialise of you having cancer or lung cancer which would lead to death. Even second- hand smoking is lethal to people around smokers especially pregnant women. Gambling is what I do non understand, you bet away your money which there Is a low chance of you winning it back, and if you do win you bet the money you earned and most likely you lose it again.Lust well remember to use a condom for safety. What do all these vices have In common? It all costs money, Its not good to yourself and people around you, and there Is a chance for you to die with certain vices. So try to live a healthy life way of life without using an exaggerated amount of vices, because hey I have tried to smoke but I am not a smoker, I Like to drink occasionally, and If you do try to elude vices there Is a chance that you might reach an age of a hundred.

Gender Role Effects in “The Yellow Wallpaper” Essay

Charlotte Perkins Gilman was a feminist spellr who wrote The Yellow paper in the 1890s. During this time period the woman were expected to keep the house clean, contend for their children, and listen to their husbands. The men were expected to work a job and be the orchestrate of a household. The story narrates a womans severe depression which she thinks is linked to the yellow wallpaper. Charlotte Gilman experienced depression in her life and it inspired her to write The Yellow Wallpaper. The short story is based on a woman, not given a name in the text, who is very dependent on her husband. The cashier plays a gender role that is degraded by her successful husband, who is a doctor, because she is a womanish. jakes ignores his wifes accusations with the wallpaper and looks down on the event that she cannot fulfill her duty as a woman, mother, or wife by treating and calling her childish names.Throughout the whole story the fabricator is trying to assort her husband that she impersonates a weird vibe from the house and that the yellow wallpaper is driving her insane in the bed room she stays in. The narrator states, That spoils my ghostliness, I am afraid, that I dont care- there is something strange some the house- I can feel it (677). derriere ignores this and it angers her. Critic Davison writes, With regard to her case, the narrator confides, John does not know how much I truly suffer. He knows there is no reason to suffer, and that satisfies him (56). John tells her that she has a temporary nervous depression and a slight hysterical tendency. He says that she just needs rest, and she will be fine. She feels she cannot do anything about it because he is not only a doctor but her husband, so she just goes on with the days living in the mansion. As a female she is mantic to respect the man of the house and have be runtyd say so. Gilman writes, My brother is also a physician, and also of high standing, and he says the same thing (677). With two o f her family members telling her this she feels like an unsuccessful woman. She feels as if John is turning her whole family against her and her emotions. John never listens to anything his wife has to say to him. This is an example of how women feel their opinion or voice never mattered in the 1890s.The wife goes into immense detail describing the wallpaper as if some superstar was really seeing it in their mind as they read the story. The paint and paper look as if a boys school had used it. It is stripped off- the paper- in great patches all around the head of my bed, about as far as I can reach, and in a great place on the other side of the room low down. I never saw a worse paper in my life. One of those sprawling, flamboyant patterns committing every artistic sin. It is dull enough to confuse the eye in following, pronounced enough to incessantly make and provoke study, and when you follow the lame uncertain curves for a lilliputian distance they suddenly commit suicide- plunge off at outrageous angles, destroy themselves in unheard-of contradictions. The color is repellent, almost revolting a smouldering unclean yellow, strangely faded by the slow-turning sunlight. It is a dull yet lurid orange tree in some places, a sickly sulphur tint in others (678).This description of the wallpaper obviously shows that there is something wrong with her mentally. It also shows the reader how she really feels about it and how it is affecting her, making her go insane. The narrator states, It is stripped off- the paper- in great patches all around the head of my bed (678). This can imply how she feels about her husband and family. They are always telling her goose egg is wrong and ignore any thoughts she may have. Maybe she is deteriorate of getting stripped down in a negative way from them such as being ignored, treated like a child, and being locked up in the bedroom. She states, The paper is dull enough to confuse the eye (678). This description could imply that no one sees the paper the way she does. John might not see the crawling women because he does not have to stare at it all day every day.The description shows the emotions and describes the way the wife really feels about her condition. She uses language such as constantly irritates and provokes study, the uncertain curves commit suicide, it plunges off at outrageous angles, and destroys themselves in unheard- of contradictions suggests that she has dark thoughts of suicide or death (678). The wifes description of the wallpaper and room which it is in makes it seem like she lives the life of a prisoner unable to escape the yellow wallpaper. The criticism of Wang states, The narrator lives a life like a prisoner who is being gazed and observed all the time (53). The observers of the narrator are her husband and her nurse. This quote implies that she is literally locked up all day in one room suffering from more depression as the days move forward.Another way John puts his wife do wn as a female is calling her names and acting like she is a baby. John states, What is it, little girl? (682). It is significant that he would call her that because she is his wife and they have a little child together. Gilman writes, Then he took me in his arms and called me a blessed little goose, and said he would go down to the cellar, if I wished, and have it cover up into the bargain (679). He acts as if he is controlling of her being her father in a way instead of a husband. He read to her until she got tired and that is what a father would do for his child. The adjective little also adds power to the quote because it suggests that she has no say- so as if she was his child. These words John calls her makes her refer sticker to her childhood. She was frightened from her childhood and this could add more agitation to her mental sickness. This is ironic because Gilman writes, It was a nursery first, and then playroom and gymnasium, I should judge, for the windows are barred f or little children, and there are rings and things in the walls (678). All these things imply that she is stuck in a childhood state that she cannot escape to be the wife and mother she wishes to be.The narrator is not mentally able to fulfill the duties a mother was expected to do in the 1890s. She is unable to watch and take care of her child as a mother. The wife states, It is fortunate Mary is so good with the babySuch a dear baby (678). Mary is a housekeeper/nurse who watches her and takes care of her child. The narrator states, And yet I cannot be with him, it makes me so nervous (678). This makes her feel as if she failed her role as a female because she was not able to get along the most common trait known to a woman. She is also not able to clean, cook, and keep the house up as a woman is supposed to do. She has to get Mary to do all of this for her. This could be another reason that makes her think something is really wrong with her. She is Johns wife but the things he ca lls her implies that she is not completing the role of a wife therefore John treats her like a child. They Yellow Wallpaper is a confusing story with a horror vibe to it. Being a female, the wife feels that she is unable to escape the name calling, the portrayal of a child, and her husband. Her biggest problem is not being able to get away from the wallpaper that causes her great depression. John claims there is nothing wrong with her throughout the whole story because she has no symptoms of any sickness. Her family members even tell her that nothing is wrong and she feels that she cannot do anything for herself. The Yellow Wallpaper is an object the narrator does not escape causing her to go insane, be depressed, and fail at the role of a female during the 1890s. Charlotte Gilman definitely leaves the reader stumped in the interpretation of the story.Works CitedDavison, Carol M. Haunted House/Haunted Heroine Female Gothic Closets In The Yellow Wallpaper. Racial Differences in the Corrections System Essay

According to Black Star Project Executive Director, Phillip Jackson, in 2007 at that place were 321 Afri roll in the hay American men enrolled at Northwestern University (1.7 pct of the student body) but four clock that number 1,207- imprisoned at Western Illinois Correctional Center (60 sh ar of the prison population) (Walker, Spohn & Delone, 2012). This is only one constituent model of the astounding percentage of young black men currently serving jail time as opposed to pursuing a college education. Something must be vitally wrong with our woeful justice musical arrangement, since it allows these keel numbers to hold truth. Overall the total percentage of young African American males is almost fin times to a greater extent than that of their young whiten or Hispanic male counterparts. I find this statistic very disturbing and chose to research the why and how this is occurring. There be many possible reasons such as expressage access to public health clinics, racial pr ofiling, unfair judicial systems, racial differences in decide, lawyers, and law makers, meagerness, and agnatic upbringing to name a few. How do these young men get sucked into a life of crime, do they meet an alternative or a role model to seek counsel form? The numbers do not lie and there must be sound reasons behind them. In this write up I will research and discuss the various reasons why young African American males atomic number 18 grossly over represented in the culpable justice and corrections facilities. While the overall white population is higher than the African American population, 10.4 percent of African American men between the ages of 25-29 can expect to spend time in jail, compared with 2.4 percent of Hispanics and 1.2 percent of white men. Throughout this paper I will discuss not only the staggering numbers but analogously the reasoning behind them and possible solutions or at the very least a starting point to help begin the difficulty at hand. People of color are disproportionately involved in the miserable justice system, as crime dupes, offenders, persons arrested, and persons in prison (Walker, Spohn & Delone, 2012).It Starts at a Young AgeThere is more than one reason behind the racial imbalance in the fell justice system. Areas that have been evaluated are parental involvement, peer groups, neighborhoods, the individual, and racial discrimination at alllevels. It appears that the problem is present in the youthful justice system as well, something is not workings right if these children are not receiving the rehabilitation and or help they need to lead a non-criminal life. Redding & Arigo, 2005 state this about the number of African American teenaged offenders, compromising only 15% of the juvenile populationand 57% of the juveniles in state prisons I decided to discuss juveniles because I found it interesting that they besides represented a large number of the criminal offenders in the juvenile justice system in a ve ry similar way that the 25-28 family old African American males do.Several avenues I researched concluded that African Americans have a harder time accessing health facilities such as metal health clinics, where many of the common mental health disorders that criminal offenders suffer from can be treated. As many as 70 percent of youth in the system are affected with a mental disorder, and one in five suffer from a mental illness so severe as to impair their dexterity to function as a young person and grow into a responsible adult (Hammond, 2007). It seems to me that if we can return the current process at a young age, why wouldnt we?Poverty and Single Parent HomesWalker, Spohn & Delone state that 9.4 % of white Americans live in distress compared to a shocking 25.8% of African Americans that live in poverty. There are thousands of studies that link poverty and poor neighborhoods with criminal activity, both victim and criminal. With a quarter of the African American population living at poverty level it is not surprising that they also retain such a large portion of the inmate population. Regardless of whether poverty is a cause or an effect, however, the conditions associated with poverty can work against the development of human capitalthat is the ability of individuals to remain healthy and develop the skills, abilities, make outledge, and habits necessary to teemingy participate in the labor force (Nilsen, 2007).If people are not allowed the opportunity to reach their full potential frequently times a life of crime if the only way to survive. The United States Government recognizes that there is a link yet the problem tranquillize exists. Yes there are federally funded programs such as Medicaid, Food Stamps, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, but the poverty level is still alarmingly high. The most telling fact about poverty in theUnited States is how thoroughly it is ignored (Royce, 2009).While there is a link between poverty and crime, there is also a link between single parent homes or absentee parent homes and crime as well. The percentage of African American families drive by a single parent, usually the mother, is astounding, 50% of all black households with children under age 18 are headed by black women (Bush, 2004). Often times the majority of these families live at or below the poverty level, leading to a higher chance of violence and criminal activity. The evidence above begins to take the stand the reasoning behind why African Americans have the highest racial population in prisons. In addition they often are judged harder and parcel out longer sentences in jail than there non-black counterparts. While racial profiling seems to be a likely source I found various accounts of whether or not it is a direct cause of the higher numbers of African American men in prison, the problem seems to lie except up the judicial system.Young African American and Hispanic males, in other words, face greater odds of i ncarceration than young white males primarily because the commit more serious crimes and have more serious prior criminal records (Walker, Spohn & Delone, 2012). Even though they may commit more serious crimes, when sentenced next to a non-minority for the same crime, their sentences are often longer. Clifford Levy 1996 of the New York Times states, black and Hispanic people sentenced for minor felonies or misdemeanors in New York were treated more harshly than whites in similar circumstances. His statements are based on a study released by the Pataki administration.Higher Up the Judicial SystemOther areas that may lead to the disproportioned numbers in the jails are judges, juries, and lawyers. Next I plan to discuss the differences in race among the judges, juries, lawyers, and law makers. The jury is the heart of the criminal justice system (Cole, 2000). How can racially fair rulings be handed out if the jury consists of mostly non-minorities? Racially biased judgments could be a cause of the difference in numbers in our criminal justice system. An analysis of Jefferson Parish, La., by the Louisiana Capital Assistance Center found that from 1999 to 2007, blacks were struck from juries at more than three times the regularize of whites (Dewan, 2010). Inadditional differences amongst the jurors, judges and lawyers are mostly white males. Combined African American and Hispanic representation among lawyers was 7% in 1998 There are fewer active African American federal appellate judges directly than when Jimmy Carter was President (The collaboration the, n.d.).The buck does not stop here, the racial inequality continues up the ladder to Congress, the Senate, and the House. The article Do Your Lawmakers Represent all Americans, or is it Time to Change Congress states, The U.S. population includes 12 percent African Americans, 9 percent Hispanics, and 3 percent Asian/Pacific Islanders and other groups. Congress, however, is 87 percent white 85 percent in the Hous e and 96 percent in the Senate. If fact black members of the three government bodies above are often times questioned about decisions and their backing status far more than their non-minority counterparts. These numbers back the idea that African Americans face a discriminatory criminal justice system that starts at the top. Unfortunately racial biased is still something that is ingrained in most Americans and until the minorities are fairly represented in the government and judicial system, racial inequality within these entities will still exist. parityAs mentioned previously African American males face longer prison sentences due to the fact that they commit more serious crimes and have longer criminal records, in general, than white Americans. The racial differences also extend to length of time served, higher rate of convictions and prison sentences. The national incarceration rate for whites is 412 per 100,000 residents, compared to 2,290 for African Americans and 742 for Hisp anics (Mauer & King, 2007). captivity rates are directly affected by the sentencing process. As one might expect African Americans and Hispanics face a harsher time during the sentencing process than white Americans.Of the estimates of the direct effect of race on sentencing at the state level, 43.2% indicated harsher sentences for blacks, and over a quarter (27.6%) of the estimates on the direct impact of ethnicity registered harsher sentences for Latinos (Kansal, 2005). Per the U.S. Sentencing Commissions sourcebook of federal official Sentencing Statistics in 2007 the conviction ratio broken down by race is as follows whites 28.8%, blacks 24.4%, and Hispanics 43%. Overall the percentage of African American males and Hispanics males that will servetime in prison compared to white males is significantly higher.Structural InequalityBased on the information above I believe it is apparent that there is severe structural inequality starting at the top with the government down through to the jurors. How can racial unbiased laws be passed if the government physical composition them is made up the racial majority. It is impossible to truly infer what it is like to be a minority without living it. Some may say they understand and can make unbiased decisions, but the fact remains that without living the lifestyle this is impossible to truly accomplish, which is why African Americans and Hispanics must fight to increment their numbers within the governing bodies.Next the judicial system needs to be addressed they face the same racial disparities that the government does. White judges and juries are handing out the majority of the convictions and sentences, including those handed out to the minorities. It is evidenced that African Americans face harsher sentences and longer jail times than their white counterparts. Efforts should be made to restore judicial discretion into the sentencing process to permit judges to craft sentences that accurately reflect the charge d conduct and circumstances of the offense and defendant (Mauer & King, 2007). Efforts need to be made to correct the imbalances that the United States criminal justice system currently faces.ConclusionTo be sure, criminalizing young Black males and warehousing them in jails and prisons will further exacerbate the problems of racial domination and ossify the economic and social inequities structuring their everyday lives (Hill & Lee, 2010). The evidence does not lie there are sound reasons why African American males between the age of 25-29 have more of their population behind bars. It often times starts at home and works it all the way up to the top. The same problem has been recognized at the juvenile level. African American juvenile offenders represent with a higher number of their population in the criminal justice system. I found some interesting studies that link mental illness to criminal activity. Many families living in poverty have limited access to mental health clinics, thus a possible source of aggression and criminal behavior is going untreated.Poverty levels are still inordinately high and it has been proven that living ator below the poverty level and in rough neighborhoods, leads to criminal activity. As many as 50% of the African American families at or below the poverty level are run by a single parent, leading to even more family strain and stress. Another area that is giving rise to the above mentioned numbers is the fact that the criminal justice system, itself, has very few minority members. The House, Senate, and Congress also are compromised of mostly white. The numbers do not correlated with the overall populations in the United States. White judges, lawmakers, juries, and lawyers comprise over 90% of the judicially system and government bodies. It is easier to understand why minorities are dealt harsher sentences, serve longer jail times, are convicted at a higher rate and hold a large percentage in the prison system. With the curre nt system in place and the obvious structural inequality within the criminal justice system, I precaution that the numbers will not change. Action must be taken to incorporate the minorities into these governing bodies. The issue needs to be addressed at the juvenile level, by helping these troubled teens their numbers may start to decrease at all age levels. The reasoning behind the numbers has been laid out, is love by most, and yet is still a problem. It is time to make a change, if not 1 in every black male born today will see the inside of a prison cell and this is not acceptable.ReferencesBush, L. (2004). The Growth of Seven-Eleven

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Seven-Eleven had realized unique growth in the business welkin as thither was utilization of supply chain strategy of Seven-Eleven and certain performance drivers upon the balance nature business responsiveness and the awareness of certain risks involved. For Seven-Eleven to be successful, ECR approach will be realized that are effective for stash away assortments chain replenishments and efficient promotion as well as mathematical product introduction.Seven-Eleven suck found damp ways of developing their CDC as well as DSD that is through information knowledge expertise and the augmentation of their business functions to deliver frequent product services of varied items and the engagement assurance given to the customers. The advantage of successful chain is within the improved economies of scale as Seven-Eleven effectively tripling purchasing power and gaining access to new products as the US and Japanese stores teamed to lower costs on certain premium wines for instance. The DSD can be appropriate when there is ample and fair amount of logistics determining the ideal physical distribution of goods at Seven-Eleven as there can be affected by the stores distribution center as well as facility location decisions. The distribution systems of Seven-Eleven were re-engineered and the Combined Distribution Centers have been introduced by the company to better manage the flow of products into the stores. There has been useful advantage of Seven-Eleven upon CDC and DSD as the centers allow smoothing of distribution operation to the stores and the provision of better quality and better information on supply and deliveries is available and there was control of the supply chain as achieved. The presence of technology like the adaptation of the POS system can possibly hold up ahead and do aid the store employment and management situation by freeing up staff time.

Judaism †Meaning of life Essay

The meaning of life is a philosophical indecision concerning the significance of life or beingness in general. It can also be expressed in different forms, such as Why are we here? , What is life all most? , and What is the exercise of reality? It has been the subject of much philosophical, scientific, and theological speculation throughout history. There have been a declamatory number of proposed answers to these questions from existencey different cultural and ideological backgrounds. The meaning of life is in the philosophical and spiritual foundations of existence, social ties, consciousness, and happiness, and borders on many other issues, such as symbolic meaning, ontology, value, purpose, ethics, good and evil, free will, the existence of one or multiple Gods, conceptions of God, the soul, and the afterlife. Scientific contributions focus primarily on describing related empirical facts about the universe, exploring the context and parameters concerning the how of life .Science also studies and can provide recommendations for the pursuit of well-being and a related conception of morality. An alternative, humanistic approach poses the question What is the meaning of my life? The value of the question pertaining to the purpose of life may coincide with the achievement of ultimate reality, or a feeling of oneness, or even a feeling of sacredness. governs the universe. Closeness with the God of Israel is through study of His Torah, and adherence to its mitzvot (divine laws). In traditional Judaism, God established a special covenant with a people, the people of Israel, at Mount Sinai, giving the Jewish commandments. Torah comprises the written Pentateuch and the set down oral tradition, further developed through the generations. The Jewish people are intended as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation69 and a light to the Nations, influencing the other peoples to keep their own religio- respectable vii Laws of Noah. The messianic era is seen as th e perfection of this dual path to God.Jewish observances involve ethical and ritual, affirmatory and prohibative injunctions. Modern Jewish denominations differ over the nature, relevance and emphases of mitzvot. Jewish philosophy emphasises that God is not touch or benefited, but the individual and society benefit by drawing close to God. The rationalist Maimonides sees the ethical and ritual divine commandments as a necessary, but insufficient preparation for philosophical understanding of God, with its applaud and awe.70 Among fundamental values in the Torah are pursuit of justice, compassion, peace, kindness, hard work, prosperity, humility, and education. 7172 The world to come,73 prepared in the present, elevates man to an undying connection with God. 74 Simeon the Righteous says, the world stands on three things on Torah, on worship, and on acts of pleasant kindness. The prayer book relates, blessed is our God who created us for his honor and planted within us everlasti ng life. Of this context, the Talmud states, everything that God does is for the good, including suffering. The Jewish mystical Kabbalah gives complimentary esoteric meanings of life. As well as Judaism providing an innate relationship with God (personal theism), in Kabbalah the spiritual and physical creation is a paradoxical monstrance of the immanent aspects of Gods Being (panentheism), related to the Shekhinah (Divine feminine). Jewish observance unites the sephirot (Divine attributes) on high, restoring harmony to creation. In Lurianic Kabbalah, the meaning of life is the messianic rectification of the shattered sparks of Gods persona, exiled in physical existence (the Kelipot shells), through the actions of Jewish observance. 75 Through this, in Hasidic Judaism the ultimate essential desire of God is the disclosure of the Omnipresent Divine essence through materiality, achieved by man from within his limited physical realm, when the bole will give life to the soul. Zoroastr ianism Zoroastrianism is the religion and philosophy named after its prophet Zoroaster, which is turn overd to have influenced the beliefs of Judaism and its descendant religions.77 Zoroastrians believe in a universe created by a transcendental God, Ahura Mazda, to whom all worship is ultimately directed. Ahura Mazdas creation is asha, truth and order, and it is in conflict with its antithesis, druj, falsehood and disorder. (See also Zoroastrian eschatology). Since humanity possesses free will, people must be responsible for their moral choices. By using free will, people must draw an active role in the universal conflict, with good thoughts, good words and good deeds to arrest happiness and to keep chaos at bay.

Microsoft: An Overview

in that respect are many f roleplayors that must be considered when scoping out a troupe for a potential uniting or acquisition. I being the CEO of a major competitive software manufacturing party pick up for many intimacys. Things such as strategic planning, financial performance, technological advances and trade opportunities are just several(prenominal) of the factors that must be looked at when considering another company for acquisition. In this case, Microsoft Corporation is our target. I go out be examining the above-mentioned factors in the first place making my decision on whether or not an acquisition will be feasible.Microsoft Corporation was founded in 1975 by William H. Gates III. The company, which was inspired by Gates, had a vision of computing machines powered by software developed by the company being a way of life. The goal was to integrate computers into mickles e very(prenominal)day lives. The company started out in Gates garage with primitive techno logy and limitless aspiration. Today the company has cock-a-hoop to be the orbs number one software developer and constituter. The company offers a very diverse line of products ranging from main office commitr applications to high tech melody software.Microsoft develops and manufactures a full line of games, web publishing, and virtually importantly, its number one spell of software, Windows 2000 and ever-popular Office 2000. The orbit basically runs on Microsoft software. The software is shipped with 70% of the worlds computers giving Microsoft a total of everywhere 19 billion dollars in revenues for 1999. Microsoft has recently emerged in the world of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to become a competitor of the hearty-known America Online. The Microsoft Network (MSN) as it is known offers users the same advantages of the leading ISPs man incorporating its own technology to make the online experience more user friendly and technologically advanced than the others. M SN tolerates users to embrasure their online work with their regular operating software to allow for easier web publishing, more advanced multimedia presentations, and speedy processing time. There have been many upshots concerning Microsofts strategies. Many say that the company is only in the market to dish out over and monopolize. As a matter of fact, the United States Government is shortly in a civil anti-trust case against the company. Evidence and criticism has been brought against them in order to try to stop them from monopolizing. In the past five years, Microsoft has made over forty acquisitions of companies of all sizes. It seems now that they are doing more investment notes in companies rather than taking over. Microsoft holds fully grown investment positions in NBC, Nextel Communications, AT&T, NTL Inc. , Qwest Communications and United Pan-Europe Communications. Of carry those are only the largest investment positions of 200 million dollars and over. There are ma ny other broken investment positions as well. This is just one of the strategies of the company, as a result of all of their investment positions, it allows them to growth their market cope through vulnerability in different markets. Another strategy that Microsoft adheres to is to be the most technologically advanced software developer in the market. Microsoft has always been the leader in technology when it comes to all types of software, whether it is for home user or business. It is said that within the next few years, many people will baffle to live in smart homes. Microsoft is currently developing technology that will enable a computer to run an entire household, without the user being home It is this type of technology that trammels Microsoft ahead of the rest of the rival. This goes go along in hand with the expected $3. 8 billion expected investment in R&D in fiscal 2000. It is no wonder why the government is trying to break up this awful super power of a company A critical strategy that Microsoft is part of is immense globalization. Microsoft has marketing locations in over 73 countries worldwide. This is a big part of Microsofts strategy because it allows them to gain exposure all over the world, which will influence businesses and homes all over the world to become part of the Microsoft meshwork of software. Financially Microsoft has always been a top performer. Since the company went public in March of 1986, the company has grown to 325% of its original size. In fiscal year 1985, the company had a net income of $24 million, as of quarter quarter 1999 the company had a net income of $7. 7 billion. Total stockholders equity in fiscal 99 was over $28 billion.Numbers like these are not very common in the software developing and manufacturing business. Most of Microsofts revenues come from Licensing Agreements. Licensing Agreements are software discernments that companies enter into with Microsoft for the permission to install and use Microso ft software in their business. When new software is available, the company has a choice to renew their lease agreement of use other software, the latter not being too wise. This brings me to the topics of competition and threats. True there is competition in the world of software, lots of it.The biggest competitor with Microsoft is a company called Red put on. Red Hat manufactures a platform known as Linux. Linux is strictly business application software that is apply by large corporations for implementing inventory systems, databases, and the like. Another source of competition comes from a company known as Novell. Novell is known for Novell Netware. This is business application software that is used mainly in financial institutions like banks and brokerage firms. This software is used for logging transactions at banks and brokerage firms, while maintaining an internal network within the company.Red Hat and Novell only occupy about forty to fifty percent of the market share combi ned. One should keep in mind that behind these two software platforms is Microsofts NT Server Client software powering the servers that allow the companies to use this software Basically, even thought there is competition, Microsoft still is able to gain a piece of the market share by being one step ahead of its competition. A big issue for Microsoft that is becoming a growing threat to the company is Software Piracy. Software Piracy is committed by making contraband copies of the software and perhaps even selling it.This is a very common act today with the ease of using a CD burner. In fact, many businesses operate on illegal software, which in turn hurts the revenues of Microsoft. Microsoft is currently working on programs that cannot be copied to blank disks in order to cling to themselves from this threat. Currently, anyone who knows where to get the software from illegal web sites can download them absolutely free. Once this software is downloaded to a hard drive, it can be w ritten to a CD and then(prenominal) re-written, an infinite number of multiplication from that one CD that was originally used.It is clear to see that this can become quite harmful if not taken care of promptly. This is especially done with businesses. However, they do buy one copy of the software from Microsoft and then copy it onto all of the computers in the office, thereby saving themselves large amounts of money. It is a proven statistic that in roughly companies, there exists over five hundred copies of illegal software that are being used in normal business operation. It is easy to see how this can create a loss for Microsoft, no incertitude that this problem will be resolved in the future.Another threat to Microsoft as I mentioned before is the ongoing Anti-trust case that is currently pending. In this case, the government is trying to break up Microsoft into perhaps a number of smaller companies, which would allow for more competition to enter the market. Bill gates sees this as a better opportunity to further diversify the line of product that Microsoft delivers. This will actually give Microsoft a better chance to scope out different markets and perhaps develop new products for PCs and businesses that will better enable other countries to prosper. As the CEO of my firm, I have a very involved decision to make. I feel that the wisest decision would be to not acquire Microsoft. Microsoft is a company that is a pioneer of software and is fully established and in order to be able to take them over, my company needs to be able to continue what Microsoft started. My company does not have the type of funds to be able to take over Microsoft, nor do we have the market cap to cover a stock for stock purchase. However, there is one consideration that I may make, that is, to form a interchangeable venture with Microsoft. I feel that this will benefit us both in many ways.First, our technology can be combined in order to make the worlds top software developer and manufacturer that will occupy every sector of the software industry. Our manufacturing plants can be consolidated and re-structured to cut costs, wile adapting to manufacture the new software line that my company would introduce. Our management team can be re-structured as well so that strategic planning and decision-making will better implement our new ideas and technological advances. Finally, our market share will be greatly increased because of the ability to be exposed to countries that we are not currently involved in.I feel that a combination of our companies would be believably the most beneficial display case that could occur in my company. Microsoft has proven itself to be the number one software company in the world together we would be unstoppable. One problem with this joint venture would be the matter with the pending Anti-Trust case, which would probably be further fueled by this joint venture. Whatever the outcome of the case, which by the way seems to be near ing a settlement, I feel that the newly formed company will be the best thing that has happened in software since 1975.

China Country Identification Essay

The comp any has brought to our attention that it desires to expand into the Eastern Asian market whither it is believed that the opportunity testa handst be best and certainly more than ternary its profits by this venture. The Country of choice ordain be China location is the city of Macau, which is an established trading center in Southeast Asia. B. Major cross-cultural Issues and Impacts There are some marketing aspects to consider. Our approach must be culture sensitive to be prospering. Insulting anyone in our backup sexual congresss for work in China could end the mound or cause un required delays. It is vital for e very(prenominal) last(predicate) personnel convoluted in this venture to train with flush in the marketing and cultural behaviors of the Chinese. Culture is a major issue and the company must be meticulous with training in order to be accepted. The Asian cultures are very careful nearly non losing providedtock and this is critical. Keeping daring go es back to Confucianism, which focuses on ones duty and loyalty, honor, sincerity, and keeping harmony with tout ensemble those related to them by dint of family, business, and social ties. This is strictly followed with respect for age first in any of these relationships. one(a) must never lose face with any of these ties for to lose face is to lose honor. The concept of face translates as honor, good reputation, and respect. There are four types of face. Face behavior is power-oriented behavior with the purpose of maintaining constancy or control of ones self. Diumianzi originates from the word mian and directly relates to ones reputation or place in society. It is actions or deeds, which others see observed, and it is earned. Geimianzi is response to or giving of face to a nonher through showing respect to the other person. Liumianzi is developed by debaring mis causes and showing wisdom in making decisions. Jiangmianzi, when face is increase through others by a nonher compl ementing one to a business partner or associate. salve face or reputation is very strong in the Chinese culture. People are principally reserved, quiet, and refined. No boisterous or loud behavior is acceptable and considered in poor taste. another(prenominal) itinerary to explain this is quiet dignity, ever keeping control of ones emotions. The personnel who are involved in this business venture will need to beware of the quiet reserved behaviors of the Chinese and fill such behavior in respect and get to know well each Chinese in the business relationship. It is important to save face at all times and avoid blunders or mistakes of our westward culture, and never criticize the Chinese or any others involved in the business or person-to-person relationship in Macau, China. This includes any associates whether foreign or domestic (China 2010). When greeting in China, the eldest is always greeted first and though a handshake is most common among Chinese with foreigners, sometime s with the elderly or government officials a slight bow will be prone. During the greeting exchange, it is the practice by the Chinese to look at the ground when shaking hands or bowing along while addressing the idiosyncratic with their honorific title and sur quote (China 2010). Visiting and eating also have special rules.A thickening always waits for the troops to deliberate direction for seating. Formal dinners have different rules on seating arrangements. The parley at meals is light, no business, or personal talk. The boniface will always serve an abundance of food. The host will usually escort a guest outside their home a distance however down a street and the guest should politely resist with the special ritual of hospitality. It is customary to down a wrapped enable presented with two hands when invited to the home of a Chinese. In China, they do not open a gift in front of the giver this is to avoid embarrassment for gifts that are not needed. Both the giver a nd receiver will always use both hands for the gift. Another very important gesture is to refuse the gift three times before accepting it this shows that one is not greedy.Once the gift is accepted, it is important to express thanks to them for accepting the gift. If giving money gifts around forward-looking Years for personal friendship, the bills must be even bills and there should be an even number of bills, and given in a red envelope. Do not use white, portentous, blueish, or the number 4 for anything because it is associated with closing and funerals. This would be very embarrassing. Unacceptable gifts include clocks which symbolize time is running out, a hankey suggests a farewell greeting, shoes, especially straw sandals, suggest sad memories, and do not give sign pens with red ink which signifies goal. Sharp objects like knives and scissors are not appropriate as it represents severance of relationships (Roberts 1998).Dress is important, no bright alter or blue jea ns are to be worn, and all colors should be neutral with business coming upons or dinners. Women must wear modest heals, nothing sleeveless or sheer, modest neck demarcation lines, even the jewelry should be modest and not flashy. dealinghip is everything to hurry would be a waste. Theimpact of our approach on Chinese business with regard to cultural differences is everything, the dress, the greeting, visiting, dinners, and showing of respect to all parties involved both Chinese, and U.S. will affect the stability of the relationship (King 1999). If the relationship is not sealed in the beginning with saving face or respect and trust with the Chinese, then the business deal may never take place or may be a very weak deal. The Chinese find friendship and trust to be far too important to rush through a business deal. Respect or face must be earned over time and never lost.C. Cross-Cultural CommunicationMacau, China has a very strong economy with a GDP of 21.8 per centum growth cur rently, is not expecting a recession anytime soon and has a steady growth rate of double digits up to 21 or more percent per year (Economy 2011). The humid weather and subtropical modality will be a great help in the special heat hardening process, which is necessary to extend the life of the railway locomotive components. It is important for us to pay close attention to detail and avoid using black, gold, yellow, red, or white on the engine components for any identification of parts use. Our company will need to use colors that are low key, perhaps silver, grey, brown, tan, or green, for any differentiation used to identify parts. Red is overused and is considered a New Years awareness. The black as mentioned earlier represents decease and is not a good omen. Do not use black or red issue on any of the parts or packaging, this represents evil and death and does not work in the Chinese market. When promoting the product for selling, again, color is of utmost importance and it is im portant to be creative. No black borders and no black print can be used, it is considered to be a bad omen or evil. The same is square with red print, it is considered to be related to death of the person reading the red ink. White wrap signifies death of the person receiving the gift and is not a happy color. Yellow used in marketing mainly relates to pornography, so it must not be used or it will damage the face of the spic-and-span company and possibly be an embarrassment or cause it to fail. The colors purple for power and nobility, blue green, and some other colors can be used with marketing to promote our engine components, exactly red, yellow, gold, black, and white are best avoided entirely for marketing purposes (Gao 2011).The advertising name should involve only two perhapsthree syllables with the last syllable having inflection upwards with intonation of voice. The Chinese consider this necessary for a favorable impression and for recognition of a product or service. Chinese words are lots very direct and it would be best to use such words to gain trust and spry understanding, and to portray quality and enjoyment of the vehicle because of using community As engine components. Another aspect to show purity and trust is a picture of a mountain in relation to televised advertising or media advertising on the internet, and in our promotional brochure (Lehman 1992). Manufacturing companies like Sinotruck Group, Qingdao Seize The forthcoming Automobile Co. Ltd., and Special Truck federation China National Heavy Duty Truck Co., to name a few major manufactures for heavy-duty trucks, to market the engine components produced by Company A would be our target audience for this market (Brighter 2011).China is expecting an increase in unit freight mileage star to long distance transportation implying a demand for high-end trucks in the next few years. China is an small market for our truck engine components and this is good timing with Chinas economic growth and increased investment in the trucking industry (Intelligence 2011). Currently, in China, the demand for trucks ranked first and automobiles ranked piece (Intelligence 2011). Pricing of the engine components is based on production and the shipping costs for China. Choosing to build a manufacturing found in Macau, China would prove to be financially prudent and help to keep prices in line with other competing engine makers in the truck industry for China. To protect competition in China, the prices would need to be equal in revenue as that of other countries in which these engine components are sold. To distribute these engine components in China it is necessary to have distribution partners for acceptance in the different market areas. Company A will have to build a network of distributers among locals where face-to-face relationships can grow. It will be prudent to train local mechanics for problems with the engine components that may occur after the sale. It is importan t to have connections with individuals in all areas of the business for trust and friendliness to the Chinese country. They see life as a group connection in all associations.D. Cross-Cultural Ethical DifferencesIntroducing ourselves into the Chinese market is crucial and must be done through an intermediary, someone who will give face favorably about Company As reputation. Chinese do not like to do business with strangers. The meetings need to be requested in writing preferably one or two months in advance by someone that they know and trust who connects for Company A. Plan to arrive a bit early, do not be late as the Chinese perceive this as an insult and it could cause negative problems for the business relationship. Punctuality is considered a virtue in China. It is important not to wear bright colors for meetings men should wear dark colored conservative business gibes. Women should wear a conservative business suit or dress with a high neckline and flat shoes or not much of a heel. There is no gender bias in China.About the introductions, when greeting the Chinese, the highest official or eldest will start the introductions and will either bow slightly while looking to the ground or shake hands while looking to the ground, do not look them in the eye during the introductions but do call forth their honorific title and then surname. Example, It is an honor to meet with you, President Chen. They have a great sense of humor and like to laugh if they are comfortable. If it is appropriate on your behalf at any time, be sure to laugh at yourself. The names of all who will be at the meeting and their titles, of course, would be important to have in each members portfolio. Once the introductions have been make and you have been given the invitation, provide information about Company A and what is desired to be accomplished. If offered a business card always accept with both hands and look at it with interest on both sides and then place on the table in the fro nt of the place setting or in a suit pocket or briefcase, never in the back pocket. When giving a business card use two hands and place Chinese side up to the Chinese officer.Only the eldest officer from each business will hold the conversation for negotiation. All others will listen. Posture and facial expression is very important to the Chinese and persons attending the meetings must watch guardedly and be aware of their posture and facial expressions to remain neutral. There should not be any arrant(a) into anothers eyes only concentration on what is being said and careful glancing to account expressions. Tone of voice is of great importance andshould be closely noted. Relationship cultivation is first, no musical arrangement will be made at this meeting. When the meeting concludes the Chinese will say they will phone about it, accept that answer just as they say, thinking about it (Ltd. 2004) and be patient for the deal to close at another time. It may take several meetings to finish the business deal. When the Chinese diplomat in charge invites the visiting company to a banquet, this is a signal that they are ready to give their final answer. They use a banquet to celebrate (Ltd. 2004). Our company needs to be patient and ready. In China, it is not customary to give gifts it is considered bribery and illegal. It is only acceptable to bring a wrapped gift for the most senior officer in the company after the business deal is complete and state that the gift is from your company and that it is wished for the senior officer to accept it on behalf of their company. If there are wrapped gifts for more than one individual in a group, all gifts must be different and monetarily representative of the post for each individual. It is disrespectful to give the same gift choice to several individuals, the gifts must be different, and the pry spent commensurate with the associate receiving the gift. If meeting over dinner our members must remember to wait until th e host shows them to their personal seat, and recognize that the executive who called the dinner will be paying for all, no one is qualifying Dutch.Remember to talk about whatever interests them and the food. Generally, light talk is expected. No business will be discussed while dining. The seating behavior is much like it is in formal dining with the United States. conflicting the U.S., though take time with dining and eat all you can or at to the lowest degree make it appear that time is not important. Eating is a very social event with the Chinese, never a rush. They may not hurry to be at a dinner or meal for a certain time, but may be slightly late.Timeliness is not crucial as is expected for a business meeting. It is rare to be invited to a Chinese home. If this occurs, be on time, take a gift and offer it three times but do not expect them to open it in front of you. Take off your shoes and do not pay attention to slurping or belching noises, this is the Chinese way to sho w enjoyment with the food. All business personnel must regard to eat with chopsticks (Ltd. 2004). These culture differences are very important though strange to what our customs are here in America. All Chinese customs must be followed carefully to have asuccessful business relationship in China.ReferencesBrighter, Mr. Made In China.Com. 2011. http//cntruck.en.made-in-china.com/ (accessed declination 12, 2011).
